As the world's largest traditional postal enterprise, the number of daily mails imported by the US Postal Service is also very large. According to relevant information, the US Post imports about 4.5 million to 5 million overseas mail a day.

Ninety-eight percent of the mail is imported from US Postal Service's five international mail processing centers (ISCs). The five international mail processing centers are:

1. JFK ISC New York

2. ORD ISC Chicago

3. SFO ISC San Francisco

4. LAX ISC Los Angeles

5. MIA ISC Miami

The five international mail processing centers accept imported air mail, SAL mail, EMS express mail, and direct access to service mail.

In addition to these five international mail processing centers, there are two international mail import processing centers, which are small in size.

All mail for international water and land imports are imported at NJ NDC (New Jersey Mass Mail Processing Center). In other words, NJ NDC is the only open water and land interchange bureau of the US Postal Service.

In addition, there is a small international mail exchange office in Hawaii that handles some air mail imported into the Hawaii area. This international postal route is rare and the volume is small.

Supervision of imported mail:

The US Customs will be stationed at the US Postal International Mail Processing Center to supervise mail. Mainly through X-ray machine sampling.

Customs clearance policy:

At present, the single-piece declaration of mail worth less than 800 US dollars is directly released without duty. Everyone in the US Customs policy, including legal persons and natural persons, can accept tax-free parcels of less than $800 imported overseas every day. This tax allowance is very high, so most of the mail imports into the United States are all released as long as there are no other problems.

For mails with a declared value ranging from $801 to $2,500, if there is no tariff (refer to the customs code rate), the customs will also release it directly. If it is necessary to pay customs duties, then the customs will help calculate the tariffs, issue the tax bill, and after customs clearance, hand it over to the US Postal Service for final delivery, and the US Postal Service will charge the customs and customs clearance fees (about $5).

For mails with a declared value greater than US$2,500 (regardless of whether the tariff is 0 or not), the mail will be detained at the International Mail Processing Center. The Customs will notify the US Postal Service to notify the final recipient of the official customs declaration, and the recipient will entrust himself or commission a commercial declaration. The company officially imports customs declarations for mail.

It can be seen that the customs clearance mode of mail clearance within 2,500 dollars is the government customs clearance mode. This and commercial express channels are essentially different from ordinary freight channels. For mails larger than 2,500 dollars, the whole customs clearance process is basically the same as commercial channels.

For mails up to $800, the mail channel has a huge advantage.

custom declaration:

For the declaration of imported mail, the US Customs requires that accurate information be included on the mail declaration form (CN22, CN23, CP72), including the English name, value, quantity, and origin of the product.

But in fact, the supervision of mail is very lenient, and only a general declaration is required to basically pass. This has a monopolistic advantage over express shipments. If the Customs believes that the declaration is not correct, then the Customs will basically open the package and check it again. As long as there is no contraband, it will be released directly.

Supervision of food

Since international mail is the main channel for private communication and the main channel for personal goods delivery, a large part of the mail is food. For food-based mail, in addition to customs supervision of value, customs also basically travel FDA. Duties.

Meat, dairy products, and egg products are prohibited from being delivered by international mail. Individuals don’t give gifts to individuals. Some people often say that I have mailed a lot of duck necks from China, and I have come over. It is indeed a probability. After all, the mail is spot-checked, but the customs’ rate of imported mail checks is increasing. In particular, the sensitivity to meat mail is quite high. After the check, the contents of the mail will be directly confiscated, and a customs check will be placed in the parcel. And it is clear that it is illegal for you to do so. If you do this for a long time, the Customs will blacklist the recipient address and the recipient. If the circumstances are serious, you will take legal measures.

For foods that are not meat, dairy products, and egg products, if it is a personal gift to a person, then the fda is exempted from filing in advance. If it is a company individual, then in theory, fda must be declared in advance, but there is one Except for the case, the US recipient himself went online to shop, and then the food mail that he mailed to himself did not need the fda advance time report. In fact, because fda can't tell whether B or C is in the end, fda does not control the pre-declaration of this part of the mail. He mainly checks contraband and meat products.

About brand item supervision:

For the supervision of branded goods, since the mail is a personal item passage and a government customs clearance behavior, this channel is relatively loose for brand item supervision. As long as it is a small amount of personal-to-person items, basically customs does not matter, but if it is a large number of commercial activities, such as an address often accepting a large number of branded goods, or the sender is a company, and long-term bulk mailing of brand goods, Then there will be problems, the customs will think that this is a commercial act, and serious will be held accountable.

For the import of mail, the following products are strictly prohibited from being imported:

Cigarette

2. Alcohol

3. Weapons, fire extinguishing equipment

4. Seeds, living plants

5. Unprocessed animal skin

6. Counterfeit driver's licenses, passports, and other counterfeit government documents.
